Now it’s time to customize this template for your chapter! The Wix platform is very intuitive. But if you’re not familiar with the Wix editor, here are some articles that will give you a good overview:
○ GETTING STARTED
○ EDITOR MENUS
○ USING GRIDLINES
○ SAVE, PREVIEW AND PUBLISH
If you're familiar with applications like Microsoft Word and/or Canva, you'll be able to get comfortable using the Wix editor fairly easily. If you're one of those people who like to jump right in without instructions, feel free to just go ahead and give it shot and remember...the undo button is your friend!
If you prefer some instructions, here are links that guide you through the most common customizations that you'll need to perform:
○ HIDE / UNHIDE PAGES
○ SWAP PHOTOS
○ ADD / CHANGE TEXT
○ ADD / UPDATE TEXT LINKS
○ ADD / UPDATE BUTTON LINKS
○ CHANGE COLUMN BACKGROUNDS
○ UPDATE SOCIAL MEDIA ICONS
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you have all of your pages set up, it is very important to update the Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In a nutshell, updating your SEO will help make sure that your new website can be found on Google and other search engines.
In the spirit of keeping it real, the following instructions are a bit lengthy. If you don't want to go through that entire process, we strongly recommend that at the very least you complete updates according to the first two sections.
○ CUSTOMIZING YOUR SEO SETTINGS IN THE SEO PANEL
Now that you’ve updated the desktop version of your template, you’ll need to refine the mobile version as well. Moving and resizing elements won’t change anything that you’ve done on your desktop site. By now, you’re likely very comfortable with how the Wix editor works and will be able to make any needed refinements without a ton of instruction. We recommend opening up the demo site on your phone for reference while you work.
If you do need some more detailed instructions, here is a helpful overview of the mobile editor:
